The fediverse is a great digital third place because it's so open, owner-maintained, relaxed, non-corporate, and non-profit. It's rare to see any form of ads in my experience, except for people talking about their creative work.

It's not really a place to make money, for all its charms. If you're looking to make money, you go where the people are. We're a great crowd, but there aren't many of us and well, we're not here to see ads.

I would consider it so. Voluntary donations are necessary for the larger instances and I'll consider donating when money's less tight. But actually monetising it would be anathema.
