This community is for discussion of dead communities and the planning of reviving them.
What should a post/comment look like?
A post ideally would be mentioning that community, what value it could contribute to the fediverse, how much dedication it would take and approximately how many mods there should be, and a call for volunteers.
A comment should be a suggestion, correction or volunteering.
What is a dead community?
A community which all mods are inactive for more than 3 months, and the modlog has had no activity for the same time.
Please ping all the admins in the comments too, this is necessary.
Rules
The rules are very simple.
- All posts must be about a dead community. Meta posts should be marked [META]
- Be nice.
... i will work on the icon/banner later ;)

Hey shaytan!
Thanks for making this post, it's really great, and is exactly what i imagine to be an example of a good post for this community. I'm glad to see you're trying to revive the more niche piracy communities.
I've checked all the communities and moderators, and it hits the criteria, but as per rules:
@hassanmckusick@lemmy.discothe.quest
@Lord_Nikon@lemmy.dbzer0.com
@DeliciousMeatPop@lemmy.dbzer0.com
@ScratchySoft@lemmy.dbzer0.com
@SuperBio@lemmy.dbzer0.com
@IcyTable208X@lemmy.dbzer0.com
To any of those pinged who are reading this: reply to this comment to disqualify your communities, or if you have no interest in modding them anymore.
Hey, uh... I'm one of the mods on !retropirates@lemmy.dbzer0.com. I haven't been on in a while because... Well, I just haven't been able to figure out what to do with it outside of posting links, which is... Discouraged outside of the megathread, at least last I checked the rules.
No problem, i have the same problem a lot with my communities, too. I think it'd probably be best to either be with c/piracy or a retro gaming community, since it's probably a niche on lemmy.
I see... Is there already a retro gaming community on dbzer0? If not, maybe I could try reorienting the sub to be a more general retro gaming community? But that still doesn't solve the problem of tying it into the subject matter of the rest of the site without posting links discouraged under the site's policies (though I'm not sure how well-enforced that is)... Maybe discussing emulators and advancements in them as well as... Maybe information on new dumps bimonthly or something? Perhaps another issue is the fact that !roms@lemmy.dbzer0.com, already fairly niche on this site, is still the de facto retro piracy sub on here judging by how popular it is compared to !retropirates@lemmy.dbzer0.com.
I guess it would be roms, yeah. In general we don't have much retro piracy stuff strangely, one would assume it would be popular lol.
Sorry i couldn't help much, good luck
Hello! I missed that on the rules, I'll fix it
No need, it only works through comments, and i've already handled that.
I hope you find users to mod these communities, and good luck with steamdeckpiracy!
Hi. Been crazy busy to the point of not being able to mod as much as I used to. I posted looking for mods a good while back but not many really responded; if anyone wants to take em up then lemme know and I can see about transferring though I'm still fuzzy on the process.
Hi! It's no problem. I'd recommend creating a new post for searching for active mods. To transfer just add them as a mod then remove yourself from the mod team. Thanks for creating this communities btw!
Np. Some of em do have posts searching for active mods though pinning is a thing now so I'm assuming it's better to do that assuming the original isn't buried in some way.
