As with most doomer posts, 2/3 of that is just a problem of being addicted to social media - not necessarily a problem with the era itself.
It's weird that people didn't get addicted to social media in other eras, isn't it?
I mean, it's not like social media doomerism is some mandatory thing. The internet shows us what we want to see - if someone wants to spend their whole life reading about every possible bad thing in the world, that's on them.
Social media companies use predatory tactics that abuse our knowledge of the human psyche to pull people into social media. It's not the fair choice you make it out to be
Old media did this too. Newspapers, yellow rags, pulp fiction, special interest magazines. Chock full of physiology-abusing tricks.
I’ll also add that the other people around you use social media - so if you want contact, it’s now harder than it used to be since fewer people are eager to strike up an anonymous conversation.
This has especially ruined dating.
As someone that doesn't use social media outside of Lemmy, it's really not as hard as people seem to make it out to be.
Says the guy arguing with everyone replying to him. Have some self-awareness for once.
