[Update]: Thanks everyone for answering and caring. I wasn't expecting this reaction at all.

While I got over the panick attack quickly I really appreciated all the comfort and info you provided. <3

At the end of the day I only got a slightly worse headache and rebound effect but that was to be expected. It's been barely three weeks since I've got started with medication and next Monday I have a follow-up meeting with my doctor.

I noted everything up with the rest of my experiences just in case it's useful since I think it might be working better… xD

Anyway, thank you all again. (:

[END of Update]

I'm on Elvanse (lisdexanfetamin) 30mg I just took two pills instead of one by mistake.

I'm quite sure I wasn't noticing anything with 30mg but now I fear an overdose or some shit.

Tho here if 30mg is not enough they jump you to 50mg which is not far from 60mg…

The thing is that I'm scared and don't know what I should do.

My wife (who is ADHD) said vitamin c , orange juice for example. Apparently it reduces the uptake. Your advised not to have orange juice because it can interfere with the uptake

What?! Why have nobody never told me? I always drink a glass of vitamins in the morning shortly after I take my meds.

Citrus in general, it's why so many meds say not to eat grapefruit

[–] reattach@lemmy.world 17 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I think grapefruit in particular has an enzyme that interferes with drugs (can increase or decrease effect):

Thanks for providing a link to a (hopefully) trustable source! I was thinking about searching a bit myself but it's crazy at work at the moment so I was going to put it on the "do it later" list, and we all know how that usually works out xD

Don’t know my friend. As I said this is what my ADHD blurted out when I read the original post 🤣 Please check the validity of this yourself but it was something she was advised to avoid.

It's anything acidic from what I have found/read, the pamphlet that comes with mine mentions it. You can get a strong and longer lasting effect if you take calcium carbonate (aka antacids) around the same time.

Same here, I only found this out recently as well and changed my vitamin intake to midday.

I thought it was the opposite. The extra acids melt away time-release layers so you get the spikes closer together and you run out sooner.
Edit: Reattach below linked this article about how grapefruit juice can either block enzymes, causing too much of the drug, or transporters, causing too little. So it's somehow bad on both ends.
