Just binged season 1 of Attack on Titan.

IMO it is overrated.

Besides the scenes where they are swinging around with their mobility devices, the animation is completely a slideshow.
There's way too much narration and exposition.
The scriptwriter / original writer tried to make the characters sound cool, but they just ended up with stupid dialogue.
The recaps are as long as the ones in Undead Unluck, taking up close to 10% of each episode's runtime.

Thankfully, the story and world-building is good, which is not surprising considering it is Gundam but with meat robots.

So I'm going to give it a 8 / 10

Also, now that I watched AoT, Kaiju No. 8 feels like a dumbed-down knock-off.

S1 is the weakest of the bunch imo. I had the same thoughts initially. Then season 2 started and it just became infinitely better for me.
