Sir/Madame, that is an mp4 file with AVC and AAC encoding
It shows up as a gif in Sync for some reason
so many open clients, yet you chose evil
What do you mean evil?
I tried bunch of clients when I was still using reddit and Sync was hands down the best. It's elegant, feature rich and highly customizable. I tried Jerboa briefly when I first joined lemmy but it was shocking how bad it was

Yeah "gif" has basically become a common noun like escalator at this point.
It's even notified on the Wikipedia page for gif, in the third paragraph: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/GIF
