I have been getting into emulation though there is no emulation community here to talk about it. I assume emulation discussion in gaming is welcome any thoughts?

I love how much the emulation scene is doing for game preservation

Plus its super interesting from a technical point too

Emulation has come a long way. It is a great way to experience videogame history without original hardware.

Until archive.org soon will be ceased. Other big ROM sites were forced to close as well.. It's madness!! And we are not doing enough to prevent this. For example: https://www.timeextension.com/news/2024/06/one-of-the-webs-oldest-rom-sites-removes-games-by-nintendo-sega-and-lego

we really need to archive archive.org tbh. If there was an open source fediverse alternative that would be great. The hard part would be the amount of storage needed for the whole thing.

We need to leverage existing solutions like how Ana archive is working. Which makes use of torrents. https://annas-archive.org/ Like read this carefully: https://annas-archive.org/datasets

yea it is! And I think we can use the lessons learned from this to also create a ROM back-up site or something.
