I was a kid once and heard a group of kids following me. I was trick or treating.

Heard them coming up behind me and was expecting them to attack me. Instead one of them just grabbed by bag of candy and ran off.

I started to go after them but my friends stopped me and said with all the solemnity a 7 year old could muster, β€œlet it go”.

They shared their candy with me.

Those are good friends =) I don't think it would have played out great otherwise. Cause of that kinda hive-minded crap, where people do way worse when in groups than by themselves.
