A team of 4 people from the Fediverse and I are working on a "federated" Minecraft server if I dare say.

The goal would be to have a proxy with a central lobby that would redirect to dozens of servers maintained independently by instances or users of the Fediverse, all scattered around the world!

The project is already underway: minefra.me. What do you think about it? Join us!

Why Minecraft and not Minetest?

That's what I'm wondering. A distributed Minecraft world sounds cool, but what's stopping Microsoft from shutting the whole project down?

And Open Source would probably make it easier to create modifications. For example you wouldn't have to reverse engineer server code.
