Note: you don't need to do anything if you have the app installed. The app will continue to be named 'wefwef' on your homescreen until you reinstall.

So what's new for 0.17.0?

Block communities and users

It's here! You can now block users and communities! Just go to their page and tap the ellipsis in the header. Additionally, there's a new "Filters & Blocks" section to settings (applied per user)!

There's also an option to hide all NSFW content for your account!

Finally, it's now much easier to message users. Just tap on their profile and "Send Message"!

Favorite communities

Favorite communities for them to be at the top of the community quick switcher and your communities list. So much easier than scrolling to find the communities you frequent most often! Thanks @httpjamesm for this feature that's been a long time coming.

To favorite (or unfavorite), just visit the community and tap the ellipse in the header.

Guys, I know this won’t happen but a week ago I created this icon with AI while I was sad because we lost Apollo. I wished Christian would make a transition to lemmy but he was completely silent.

Then I found out about wefwef and I'm really glad that I can have nearly the same experience while surfing on lemmy.

Even if I'm using mostly all available Apps for iOS, the only true successor to Apollo is Voyager.

Similar to others I originally made these for Memmy without realizing they decided to move away from a lemming icon.

Here’s a couple alts

Now that Memmy is in the App Store on iOS, I feel like Wefwef is going to be left behind since this is the main place people go to discover apps. I know that Wefwef is a PWA web app but if it could be put in the store that might get more people to use it. Are there any downsides to being in the store?

Is this common or unique to me? White text on the light background is fairly illegible.

If I interact with a Lemmy post via Wefwef, will it go to wefwef.app domain first and then to Lemmy or will it pass the request directly from my phone to the Lemmy Instance (s)?

Came across a post while scrolling my home feed that had a screen shot of the WefWef view of a community’s posts as the image. Both my feed and the screenshot were dark theme, meaning it was nearly impossible to distinguish until I scrolled all the way to the bottom - obviously the poster had a longer phone than I do as the image took up the entirety of the screen and it just looked like WefWef was no longer displaying the community for each post. Super confusing.

I’ve added a screenshot of my own as the image for this post as an example.

I’ll go off now and find the post I’m referring to and include it with my edit.

Edit update: I can’t find the original post I’m referring to but my image does a good enough job showing the issue.

Not sure what to suggest as a fix or feature request - maybe just reduce the size of images slightly so they are little bit less than the full width of the display? All suggestions are welcome.

Saw that this might be a safari specific issue on iOS. For those not familiar, the bug causes scrolling to freeze when swiping back from a post. Usually takes 2-3 seconds for it to unfreeze or you can unfreeze by interacting with a button which causes it to unfreeze.

Please let me make the text bigger. Yes, I know it gets quite large but I need it probably 50%-75% bigger to read easily.

The post contained one comment that has been deleted by its author. I‘ve seen posts with negative upvote/downvote ratio before of course, but the comment one was a surprise and got a slight chuckle out of me

What is the reason that wefwef requires a photo for a post? Is it just me?

I was trying to post at „Serien“ in Feddit. On Lemmy via browser it works perfectly without.

I appreciate that the NSFW posts are blurred, that helps a lot. But sometimes somebody else is looking, so it is possible to filter out NSFW posts completely? Thanks I love this app :D

I just keep doing them backwards from muscle memory. Would prefer customizable options.

wefwef is an awesome web app, but the (imo) relatively generic app icon doesn’t reach the same level of polish as the rest of the beautiful app. Any chance we get a more custom and unique icon?

Great job with this app and I am amazed at the blinding speed the team is moving.

I hope you can find room in your roadmap to add a feature that allows a user to pick their favourite communities and have those favourites brought to the top of the subscription list for easier access.

I loved the ability in Apollo to quickly navigate to my few favourites.
