Hi everyone!

I created this community because I don't think there is a space for discussing the WEC on Lemmy so far.

I'm a recent Reddit refugee (where I mostly lurked), but I wanted to get active and contribute to the Lemmy wave. I have no experience whatsoever moderating or running a community, so please be excellent to each other so we can maybe make this a nice little space for discussing this ridiculous sport that we all love. Thanks!

Fantastic collection of links here for the greatest motor race of them all. Hypercar promises to be very close this year, with no less than 23 cars from 9 manufacturers. That's bigger than the F1 grid and only 1 class of racing!

LMP2 continues to provide top class racing, and the newer LMGT3 has 9 manufacturers already!

After the post-race scrutineering, a 3D scan was conducted on car #2 to assess its bodywork compliance with the official manufacturer's CAD model. The scan revealed that the rear diffuser strakes on both sides were higher and misaligned compared to the nominal values. Technical reports confirmed the violation of regulations. During a videoconference hearing, the team manager explained that an error led to parts being delivered without proper quality control. Although no intentional misconduct was found, the stewards imposed a disqualification, resulting in other cars moving up in the final classification. Competitors were reminded of their right to appeal decisions within the specified time limits.
