Are you tired of the Disney Star Wars era? Did The Last Jedi piss you off? Does the name Kathleen Kennedy or Rian Johnson grate your eardrums? This might be the place for you!

I left Reddit for obvious reasons and I've been waiting for someone to come over to the Lemmy side. I'm tired of waiting and hope others can come join here.

I'm very new and I don't plan on moderating because I have a family and job. But I bet some of you would love to change that!

For right now, memes and discussion are encouraged at the expense of Disney's failed IP Acquisition! All the dumbness, awful, and terrible ideas are fair game! If you have some good things to say, that's okay too. A broken clock is right twice a day and certainly Disney could happen on a brilliant take once in awhile. But for those that know (we really know), they screwed up the biggest revival of our lifetime that we'll never get back!

What does everyone else think? Do the true numbers tell the whole truth or is it still biased?

I created this place hoping more would be involved. It was during the Lemmy rush and people said "if you can't find a community, then make it". I posted a discussion I had with a friend but it was not a favorable topic.

I guess this is a test to see if anyone really cares about this sort of topic. If not, I have no problem packing it up. It's been about a month since it's creation and only one other person made a topic out of four now.

If anyone has any ideas what to do differently, that would also be great.

I had this brief conversation with a friend who likes to play Devil's Advocate on a lot of our discussions. I don't feel like he's a true fan of the series since he generally likes everything spewed out of Hollywood in a certain way. So I look at him as being the basis of a general audience member going into new movies and not having any preconceptions. We get into arguments a lot while I'm trying to share my frustrations on how poor something is (current Star Wars) and not having the right words to convey why it's bad.

One of the most damning things for me of this series is having Luke, who was the epitome of righteous heroism at the time, who faced off the evil Emperor and his own father alone, turn around in his old age and want to MURDER his nephew over a bad vision or dream he was having.

There were two things he said to me that made me flabbergasted. First, he asked how do we know that was the true vision? There was one where he only stood over him but the other was told by Kylo where it showed he ignited his saber. Okay, I can't refute that because it doesn't actually specifically state which one was the actual scene. It's only implied that the one he ignited his saber was real because it was the latter telling.

But then this second one blew me away even more and actually made me rethink my friendship. (In a humorous but sad way). He said instead of Luke being brave, he was a coward bitch that ran off without his friends to face his daddy issues and to die like a bitch since he throws his lightsaber away.

I COMPLETELY disagree with that last statement he made but I couldn't bring myself to argue because as a famous quote once said, "Never argue with a dumb person because they will bring you to their level and beat you with experience." Which is really sad as I've respected his insight on many things but I can't fathom this way of thinking. Is it a form a cynicism on both of our parts since we're older?

Anyway, we both just stopped and continued to play Diablo 4 in peace the rest of the night. Haha

Every time I try to discuss my disappointment with Disney Star Wars I'm met with the argument that I'm just the sequel version of the prequel haters.... Except I literally never met or heard of a single OTs fan that hated them. The closest I ever heard was criticism of the clunky dialogue between Anakin and Padme. I'm sure it happened but I never even heard anyone gripe Midicloreans... until after episode 7 came out.

I'll share when it finally hit me that Star Wars was practically dead. We got to see The Last Jedi during work. Even got paid to go see it. But for our big company, it was a shit show from the beginning. The theater wasn't ready for us and everyone wanted to get concessions before. This ended up too long and most of us missed the beginning scroll and lame momma joke. When some of us finally got in, there were already coworkers and their families in our seats. So it was awkward from the get go that we had to move them out. When we got situated, it was at the part when Rose's sister was about to die. I honestly almost thought we were in the wrong theater watching the wrong movie.

Watched it all and I was appalled. But my stubborn ass decided maybe I missed something in the first part that was crucial to why this was so bad. That mother fucker Rian Johnson convinced me to watch his lame ass movie twice. I never spent money on another Star Wars movie or show again.
