All department and levels within the club will be impacted and the club says it will not include staff at their charitable arm, the Manchester United Foundation.

From Daily Mail article: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-13595659/Man-United-redundant-cost-review-Red-Devils.html

At 1,112 as of June 30 last year, United had by far the biggest staff of any club in the Premier League. That number is considerably higher than all of their Big Six rivals, with Liverpool having around 1,005 employees, Chelsea 788, Tottenham 719, Arsenal 649 and Manchester City 520, according to each club’s latest figures.

Manchester United are working to appoint Christopher Vivell on an initial short-term basis to help with the summer transfer window.

It is the latest step being taken by the Old Trafford club to build out their sporting structure under new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Previously employed by RB Leipzig and most recently Chelsea, Vivell will lend expertise around talent ID and player recruitment.

Any appointment would come a year after his separation from Chelsea amid a reorganisation under co-sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley.

The 37-year-old German would bring with him to United a knowledge of operating in a multi-club model, which is expected be explored by the new-look hierarchy going forward.

United confirmed on Monday a deal to appoint Dan Ashworth as their new sporting director after reaching an agreement with Newcastle United.

He will report into Omar Berrada, another new arrival, who will start work as CEO later this month after joining from Manchester City.

Jason Wilcox, formerly of Southampton, has already started in the position of technical director.

Vivell joined Chelsea as technical director in December 2022 before leaving Stamford Bridge in July 2023.

Manchester United have agreed a deal with Newcastle United to appoint Dan Ashworth as their sporting director.

Ashworth’s move to Old Trafford was delayed by the clubs struggling to compromise on a compensation package.

But more than four months after he was placed on gardening leave and it looked as though an independent hearing would be needed to break the deadlock, Ashworth’s switch has now been sanctioned.

The 53-year-old is expected to commence his position in the new-look Manchester United structure with immediate effect.

Ashworth intended to take Newcastle to arbitration to help facilitate his move with, as reported by The Athletic, Manchester United supporting his bid and pledging to pay his legal costs.

He is set to have overall responsibility for football performance, recruitment and operations at the 20-time champions of England, with technical director Jason Wilcox reporting to him.

Ashworth will himself report into Sir Dave Brailsford, who Ratcliffe has tasked with undertaking a review of the United’s football operations.

Why Manchester United want Dan Ashworth

Former football director John Murtough stepped down in April after a decade’s service, paving the way for Ashworth’s appointment.

He will become the latest high-profile appointment under Ratcliffe. Omar Berrada is scheduled to arrive as chief executive from Manchester City later this month, while Wilcox’s arrival as technical director was confirmed in April.

Ashworth joined Newcastle United after resigning from his post as technical director at Brighton & Hove Albion in February 2022.

He moved to Brighton in 2019 following a spell as technical director at the Football Association — where he started in 2012 after a spell with West Bromwich Albion — and helped develop the men’s and women’s national teams.

He was credited with playing an influential role in England’s World Cup victories at under-17 and under-20 level in 2017.

Ashworth has generated a strong reputation in areas such as player recruitment and the building of high-performance structures.

Manchester United are hoping to strike a deal with Everton for Jarrad Branthwaite after agreeing personal terms with the England defender’

United are also pursuing a deal for Leny Yoro despite fierce competition for the Lille centre-half.

Everton are holding out for at least £70 million for Branthwaite, which is significantly higher than United’s valuation but the Manchester club are hoping a compromise can be struck.

Now that we have it confirmed that ETH is staying, it's time to address Steinberg and his coverage of United from before the FA Cup final.

Steinberg broke the news that Ten Hag was sacked regardless of FA CUP final result and thus derailed the whole conversation around the FA CUP win, even affecting the coverage.

Article: https://www.theguardian.com/football/article/2024/may/24/manchester-united-decide-to-sack-erik-ten-hag-regardless-of-cup-final-outcome

As there is no indication that Steinberg has any sources within the club, and shit stirring and clickbaiting are against my personal principles, I am of the opinion that Steinberg should be considered a banned source.

The discussion is now open if anyone has arguments for or against.
