Please take a brief moment and read through the following.

This is a copy/backup of the r/LinuxCrackSupport subreddit.

For now this is just a rough copy of the subreddit and things are still work-in-progress. So as always feel free to give feedback!

crosspostato da: https://slrpnk.net/post/12840703

Hi, I recently discovered a post that finally allowed me to run the known repacks on Linux, so I decided to summarize everything and share it with you here on Lemmy; let me know if you would improve some steps to make the procedure even easier to follow.

Requirements

lutris, protonup-qt, wine-staging

Set Up Lutris

1. Open Lutris > Preferences > Global Options
2. Enable "Show advanced options"
3. "Disable Lutris Runtime" (off)
4. "Disable Desktop effects" (on)
5. "Disable Screen Saver" (on)
6. "Enable Feral GameMode" (on)
7. Save

Wine Versions Management

1. Open ProtonUp-Qt > choose Lutris > Add version
2. Choose and Install (ignore -LoL versions; Wine-GE suggested)
3. Restart Lutris

Install Windows Repacks

1. Open Lutris > + > Add locally installed game
2. Type the name of your game
3. Select Wine as Runner
4. Go to "Game options" tab
5. In "Wine prefix" create "/home/user/Games/your-game"
6. Go to "Runner options" tab
7. On "Wine version" select the version you prefer
8. Save
    8-1. (If FitGirl Repack)
8-2. Click on the game your just added
8-3. On the botton panel click the "Up" icon near the "Platform: Windows" text
8-4. Run EXE inside Wine prefix
8-5. Open the .bat file inside the FitGirl repack
    8-6. Wait then "Install"
8-7. Wait the "Checking fg-01.bin" window and "All files OK"
    8-8. Close the window
9. Click on the game your just added
10. On the botton panel click the "Up" icon near the "Platform: Windows" text
11. Run EXE inside Wine prefix
12. Open the "setup.exe" file inside your repack
13. Wait; click "Install" if any installation prompt appears
14. Follow the DODI/FitGirl installer
    14-1. Use "C:\" as destination
14-2. Don't create a desktop icon or a start menu entry
14-3. Deselect every option that starts with "Update" for eg: "Update DirectX"
15. After the installation > right click on the game > Configure
16. Go to "Game Options" tab
17. In "Executable" put "/home/user/Games/your-game/drive_c/Your Game/your_game.exe"
18. Save
19. (optional) Right click on your game > Create desktop shortcut

It's just me or RetroArch developed the best FLOSS alternative to proprietary UI? You have a nice overlay, CRT shaders, bezels, some netplay function, customizable interface. All of this completely free and super fast.

Wouldn't be nice to also launch non-emulated games from here?

Using LinuxRuleZ repack on Steam Deck.

Running the boot script takes a very long time, until an error is presented claiming "kernel32.dll" cannot be found (meaning of c0000135 in Microsoft's error codes documentation) and the script seems to then fully freeze with no CPU usage.

I'm considering buying a steam deck, which runs Linux, but also wish to play Mariokart 8 Deluxe. I've seen it be done, so I know its possible, but does anybody know about the DLC/ playing online?

Thanks in advance

LW has a strong anti piracy policy

As the title says, if someone theoretically wanted to play a cracked game on Linux (not me), could they use the official Steam launcher, or would they have to use Lutris?

10

Where do you download? Excluding particular cases, what are the common steps you take to make most games playable? Where do you keep and launch your collection?

I know there are in-depth guides but I wanted a more genuine commentary on your experience.

torrent speed is too slow with an avg of 600kb/s for me can we have files on servers such as google onedrive for faster downloads

Think about it, Linux is the most future-proof OS, not threatened by companies or commercial interests, and the same can be said for Lemmy in the world of decentralized communication for topics of interest. Without these two things the preservation of video games would be greatly in danger.

I have been trying to get either of these to work. I have seen a few people say that they got greenluma to work. One of them had said that they did it through WINE, but I have been having no luck.

hello fellow pirates, yesterday it ried for a very long time to get reign of chaos for streaming working.

Lutris scripts arent working. bottles script isnt working. playonlinux script isnt working. native wine isnt working (that one got the fathest, it showed the menu maybe once, killed itself and messed up my displays)

i tried my utter best but nothing seems to be working.

any help would be appreciated

Heyo, I posted this over in /c/piracy@lemmy.dbzer0.com as well, but this feels like a better home for it.

I originally posted some notes about cracking games on Linux. Those notes started as a reply to someone, but they evolved into more of a small treasure map for a lot of the important parts of cracking games on Linux. As I finished up the post, I noticed that it was almost exactly at the maximum length it could be on Lemmy (10k characters). I kept wanting to come back and expand just a little bit on something in that post but anything over 10k characters would not save. I eventually got so annoyed that one thing led to another and now I actually have a proper bible, this time at 100k characters.

The GNU Testament of the Linux Cracking Bible is located on GitHub: https://github.com/YoteZip/LinuxCrackingBible

A brief list of topics covered in it:

  • Configuring Lutris
  • Configuring Wine
  • Sourcing clean games
  • Discovering what DRM your game has
  • Step-by-step guides for cracking each type of popular DRM using community tools:
    • CEG (Steam Custom Executable Generation)
    • Epic Online Services
    • GFWL (Games for Windows Live)
    • Origin
    • Securom
    • SteamDRM (Windows)
    • SteamDRM (Linux)
    • Steamworks API
    • Uplay r1
    • Uplay r2
    • Xbox Live
  • Some of my personal scripts for automated cracking
  • Repacking games on Linux

My primary goals for this guide are to:

  • Demystify cracked gaming on Linux
  • Teach you to crack games by yourself, instead of relying on scene/p2p crackers

As stated in the title, there are some missing audio assets when trying to play BO1. When I start the game, The interrogator guy's audio works, but when Alex Mason starts talking at the beginning, There is no dialog, but the rest of the ambient audio works. This is just 1 example. There is missing dialogue throughout the game. Not sure if its an issue with DODI's repack itself.

Edit: Can confirm that it's not only DODI's repack.

Edit 2: Fixed by installing wmp11
