Wondering if there is any way to change the rings to higher contrast colours, from the default white and grey? The settings seem to be in ~/.config/kwinrc file, but it has no colour options that I know of. It seems like an obvious choice to want to have.

The Mouse Click Animation has some great options, but it is only on actual clicking of the mouse keys (and yes I thought maybe I could set this to long duration, but it maxes out at 999 ms.

Question is in the title. I want to create my own custom theme for light and dark and make it so that I can change between them with a click in the quick settings.

My setup: OS is Endeavour OS and up to date, my GPU is RX 560 with 1xDVI + 1x HDMI + 1X DP output, two monitors of the same model (1xHDMI + 1xDP). (KDE Plasma 5.27.7, KDE Frameworks 5.108., Qt 5.15.10, Kernel 6.4.11-x64v2-xanmod1-1, Wayland)

Original setup: MonitorA on left of my Desk connected with DP, MonitorB on right of my Desk connected with HDMI, the problem is that games see left monitor as "Monitor 1" and opens on left monitor all the time, and I prefer them to use "Monitor 2" by default.

Setup 2: I switch DP and HDMI cable, but everytime a boot up my computer (I set auto login in SDDM) the monitor configuration becomes "MonitorB is on top of Monitor A", none of my attempts to change that persisted between reboots, I didn't test games because this heavily affects my workflow.

Setup 3: Also switched monitors positions physically (MonitorB on left of my Desk connected with HDMI, MonitorA on right of my Desk connected with DP), now the default monitor configurations is side-by-side again, but every boot I have to switch monitors' position in settings or I have to go right on MonitorA to get to monitorB.

I also noticed monitor settings go away when I logout of Wayland KDE session, is there a way to fix monitor configuration in SDDM?

As a Casey Neistat fan, I love that he used to put The Godfather 1 and 2 on loop as screensavers for his monitors.

Yeah, he was using an old mac for that.

I would like to replicate it on KDE Plasma. Someone knows a way to put any movie of my liking as screensaver?

I'm trying to reposition my monitors using display configuration. When I click apply, the keep button is not clickable leading to it reverting in 10 seconds.

Is there any other way to relay out my monitors?___

"With this blog I would like to introduce KRdp, which is a new library implementing the required glue to create a server exposing a KDE Plasma Wayland session over the RDP protocol. It also contains a command-line based server which will allow remote clients to control the current Plasma Wayland session."

I'd like to change the preferred-application order for some mimetypes/file extensions, and trying to do that through the "File associations" tab of the System Settings Module. But the changes don't stick.

A look at .xsession-errors shows that some files must be corrupted. For example I see (NB: this isn't the mimetype I'm trying to change):

Mimetype Comment Dirty: old= "application/vnd.amazon.mobi8-ebook" m_comment= "Amazon KF8 ebook format"
Entry "application/x-mobi8-ebook" is dirty. Saving.

and similarly for several other obscure mime-types (e.g. "x-x509-ca-cert").

I've tried a reset as described here, by renaming the ~/.local/share/mime directory, creating a new ~/.local/share/mime/packages/ one, and calling update-mime-database ~/.local/share/mime. But it doesn't help. I manage to do and save one change in the File Associations settings, but after that, other changes won't stick anymore.

Something seems corrupted upstream.

Any suggestions? Cheers!

You can now test version 6 of KDEs Plasma Desktop by using the unstable edition of KDE Neon. Not all distributions offer an easy way of installing Plasma 6, for now (for good reasons, too).

I only know of one other distribution, that offers an easy way of testing a Plasma 6 version: KaOS: https://kaosx.us/news/2023/kaos04/ (Feel free to add comments to other distributions or e.g. wiki pages with easy installation instructions).

Be aware that in any of the above versions, there will very likely be lots of (smaller and bigger) bugs, as this isn't even considered an Alpha-Release, yet, and still heavily in development.

My personal favorite is Strawberry Music Player. Especially if it's compiled using QT5 (for KDE 5).

When an application is maximized, the panel de-floats, but the sides remain empty. I understand that this is likely hard to implement differently, but mac also does this, and I wanted to know if anyone likes their floating panels to be so holey?

Personally, I'd like to get my holes filled. sadly it's not possible for many linux users

Hello, I don't know if it is the correct way to report this bug (if you could call it one) but as shown in the images 100% needs two lines instead of one.

Operating System: Manjaro Linux KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.106.0 Qt Version: 5.15.9 Kernel Version: 6.1.31-2-MANJARO (64-bit) Graphics Platform: X11

if you need any further information, let me know

A persistent complaint KDE faces is that it’s too hard to submit bug reports. One obstacle was the giant scary list of products at https://bugs.kde.org/enter_bug.cgi. Well, no longer!
