• FSU is the 3rd program in the (public) history of odds making to lose their first 2 games as a double digit favorite. They lost both games by double digits
• In both of their opening games FSU was playing the only nationally broadcast game in their time slot.
• So far in 2024 FSU is the losingest P4 program in 2 different countries
• 2024 FSU is the fourth AP Top 10 team to start 0-2 in the last 10 seasons. (including 2017 FSU)
• In the 2024 season AP top 25 programs have started 18-2 against unranked opponents
• FSU is 0-2 at the end of week 1

Since the active users on Lemmy is kind of low right now, I'm just posting this one game thread for all of today's matchups. I will mostly be commenting on the only P4 v P4 matchup: North Carolina @ Minnesota, but feel free to comment on any games going on (I will be flipping through them anyway).

Details presented today to the conference members on adding UConn, and apparently only 6 schools in favor at this time (needs 12 to pass).

I've listened to a few Yormark interviews and he seems super fixated on adding UConn for some reason, even after adding the 4 corner schools. I kind of saw the appeal before the PAC-12 crumbled, but at this point it really doesn't make much sense.

Admittedly, the middle portion of a Venn Diagram with fedi users and cfb fans is about the size of a mosquito dick. But by golly we have fun with it, and we're going to try and promote some engagement. Last year was more or less our first year, but everyone knows that it's really years kinda 2-4 where a program's identity really gets defined. In an effort to try and make this second year a growth year for us c/cfb is running a CFP bracket prediction contest to help encourage some users to come out of the woodwork and join our small community in earnest. Details about the contest can be found below (copied straight from the details on the submission form, which can also be found below)

Rules:

Bracket predictions are due BEFORE the first official cfp ranking (7:00 pm EST 11/05), so you need to be able to predict some chaos for best results.

To be eligible to win you must submit at least 3 ballots in the weekly polls (can be done after the CFP rankings are unveiled, but still must be done before the conference championships). Users interested in wining the contest should be sure to post proof of ballots in the form of a comment on the weekly poll posts.

Contestants will be awarded 1 point for each team they correctly predict making it into the CFP, and 3 points for every team they correctly seed.

As it stands, I am planning on just the seeding being the competition, correctly predicting the first round may be used as a tie breaker if the need arises.

Awards:

• 1st - $100 gift card to online retailer of the user's choice
• 2nd - $50 gift card to online retailer of the user's choice
• 3rd - $25 gift card to online retailer of the user's choice

AP Top 25 College Football Poll

The 10-year agreement will see FIU Stadium rebranded as Pitbull Stadium, making it the world's first-ever athletics venue with an artist possessing the naming rights.

Didn't see it in the press release but my understanding is that Pitbull basically will get to use the stadium as his own concern venue as much as he likes.

This is separate from the Stalions sign-stealing scheme and instead centers on inappropriate recruit contact during the pandemic.

Michigan really putting the future of Missouri's program at-risk with these violations...
