Lately I was trying to record some gameplay from my laptop using MSI afterburner. The game was old and was easily hitting 100+ FPS, so I recorded with x264vfw with fast settings at 90FPS.

The game dropped to around 60-70fps, and the CPU almost immediately hit 100°C and throttled to like half the clock than normal. Is this normal? The CPU in question is i7 12650H, normal clocks are around 4.2GHz, at worst case during recording it dipped to 2.7GHz.

What can I do to improve this?

I was looking to buy a new laptop for some time (have even asked your help), and finally I went with an Acer Nitro 5 . I got it 2 days ago and so far, I'm fully satisfied.

Specs:

Intel core i7 12650H (only goes to 4.0GHz due to thermals), an 150W RTX 3070ti (which does go to full 150W, no thermal issues there), a 1Tb SSD, 1440p 165Hz display that looks super good, 57Wh battery(yeah).

In setting up the laptop I did face some visual glitches when I installed Intel graphics drivers from Intel's official website... Had to reinstall Acer drivers to fix it (weird). Otherwise no bugs. Even installed Linux. Got 4hrs battery life that way.

I tried running 3dMark Time spy and have added the results in the post. modern games are yet to test.

What do you guys think? Should I check anything else? Would you like to see something else running on it?

Nacon Connect has given us our first proper look at the upcoming RoboCop: Rogue City, Teyon's sci-fi FPS that is set to arrive on Xbox Series X|S in June 2023. Feast your eyes on some suitably shiny gameplay here. Terminator Resistance developer Teyon is turning its attention towards another popular property from the Eighties, this time locking onto the RoboCop franchise for RoboCop: Rogue City — the series' first major gaming release in two decades. Check out the our first glimpse at how the game will look and play below.

My vote is monk from age of empires 2. These dudes can walk up and stare at your friend chanting for a bit, then suddenly they turn around and attack you. That's horrifying.

I don't feel compeled to play any online game at the moment except if a friend asks me to play with them. Even then, the only part where I am having fun is when some weird shenanigens happen which doesn't happen at all given how sanetized and "ballanced" games are. I just want to see a funny ragdoll fly off one side of the map, or get an op weapon and listen to trash talk by the enemy team as I obliterate them (or the opposite). I want to mess around with other players and try dumb strats with my pals. Not every modern game is that way but they tend to get fewer and fewer as time comes...
