Hi everyone, This isn't the biggest issue, but it's a bit concerning, and I'm hoping someone knows a solution.

I have my autoplay settings to block audio and video, with just the default exceptions. However, certain sites, such as https://youtubetranscript.com/ will autoplay videos anyway. (Try pasting a URL of a YouTube video in there and search, and the results will immediately start playing, which is aggravating and has actually disturbed people before when I forget that's a thing that happens.)

I've done some searching, and checked about:config, but I think everything is okay in there.

I've also tested this in LibreWolf, where the exact same thing happened.

I also attempted to test it in Tor, but for some reason I am unable to connect to the Tor network right now.

I'm hoping I can find the root of the problem since clearly if it happens on this site, then it's likely to happen on others, and I'd rather not have videos autoplaying when I expect them not to.

This may or may not happen in other browsers, but it's still a Firefox issue, since Firefox presents us with a setting to disable autoplay, and one would expect it to work.

Edit: Bonus side note: ~~The reason I couldn't connect to Tor is the new version isn't working. The solution is to downgrade to 12.5.3 and disable automatic updates for now.~~ Bonus side note to my bonus side note: Turns out Microsoft flagged the latest version of Tor as a threat. Fuck Microsoft.

There are some cookies I don't want deleted, like ones I log into often with my credentials. Is there a way to mark those as "exceptions" when deleng all website data?

Does a Firefox equivalent to TubeSift Bookmarker exist?

I did a brief search of Firefox extensions, but couldn't find anything. Most of the ad-related YouTube extensions seemed devoted to blocking ads, rather than archiving and cataloguing them.

My current workflow is as follows:

• Right-click on the video player, select "Copy debug info"
• Alt+Tab to a text editor
• Ctrl+V the debug info into text editor
• Ctrl+F for "addocid"
• Ctrl+C the advertisment video id
• Alt+Tab back to browser
• Ctrl+N to open new browser window
• Type "youtu.be/"
• Ctrl+V the video id
• Wait a fraction of a second for the URL to redirect from youtu.be/[video_id] to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=[video_id]&feature=youtu.be to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=[video_id]
• Ctrl+D to bookmark the video
• Ctrl+W to close the browser window

I can usually do this in under 15 seconds, but I would like to find a faster (or completely automatic) method. Does anyone have any recommendations?

P.S. As for why I want to do this, I like to have the option of rewatching or referencing an interesting or funny ad at a later date. Most ads are unlisted videos, which makes them nigh impossible to look up.

Update: I partially automated my workflow using AutoHotKey.

Mozilla seems to be asleep at the wheel, when it once drove online activity and communications. We have some suggestions where it could go.

To do this, first you need to have Firefox Nightly or Beta installed on your phone, then go to addons.mozilla.org and search in the search bar for User-Agent Switcher and install it by pressing the "Add to Firefox" button and now you should have User-Agent Switcher installed.

Now, you must press the 3 dots on the Firefox toolbar and go to Add-ons and open User-Agent Switcher.

Once there, choose Firefox 117 (or whatever version is available at the time you read this) and it doesn't matter if it's Windows or Linux, but to keep things simple choose Windows / Firefox 117.

Now, go to addons.mozilla.org again and again press the 3 dots and activate the option that says "Desktop site" and that's it, now you should be able to install any addon you want by going to the addon you want and pressing the "Add to Firefox" button, then you will get a pop-up asking if you want to add the addon and simply press yes.

I hope this guide is useful to someone! I recently came across this by chance and really found absolutely no information regarding this, so I posted it here.

It should be noted that not all extensions work as expected, some don't even open, but most of them work.

I have about 25 extensions (almost all needed) and firefox lags like crazy, it's like I'm watching the videos at 10 fps. I download chrome to test it out and sure enough it runs as smooth as butter. Any help?

[SOLVED] replaced router (for another reason) and new model works fine somehow

Hey guys, my Firefox on Android cant open selfhosted services using DNS host names on home wifi.

I moved to a new place, got new router, configured server with new local IP. On PC everything works fine, but on Android Firefox I get "Address Not Found" when I try to open local hostname. Using IP:port works, but its been working fine before we moved. Chrome on Android works fine, desktop PC works fine.

Im running pihole and nginx proxy manager on server (I reconfigured pihole, but settings should be the same as before). I have set server IP in router DNS settings. I have set static IP for wifi network on phone and DNS address of server (I think I didnt need this before, but now it doesnt work in chrome without it). I have 2nd pihole on rpi4 as secondary DNS server on both router and phone settings, but its not in use yet. When I reconnect to wifi firefox can open the page for like first 20 sec and then it stopps working.

What am I doing wrong? Ive been using firefox on android exclusively before we moved

Hi! I was recently looking for Violentmonkey scripts to exactly fulfill the purpose of solving captchas automatically and I came across this curious extension which is also a Violentmonkey script.

Has anyone else heard of it? I honestly haven't at all. The extension itself is supposed to be completely open source and has been working really well for me.

To install the extension you need to head over to their Github and download their .xpi and be strictly in Firefox Nightly as (and this may be a problem for many) you need to disable an option in about:config to install unsigned extensions within Firefox Nightly.

Next, you need to install a package via npm called nocaptchaai-puppeteer that "simulates" human touches.

Then you need to go to their website and create a free account and put your API KEY in the extension and that's it, just click on the "settings" buttons inside the extension and you can enable them, remember to activate the extension with the top right button.

Now, the process itself to me seems very invasive as I need a package on my host machine and I need to install an unsigned extension and not to mention that you need to register with a real email, you can't use temporary or masked emails, but other than that it really works very well.

The extension itself works fine and has nothing that tells you "You need to pay to use it", as with the free API you can solve 200 captchas per day and in my opinion that is enough for anyone who uses their PC on a regular basis.

Obviously this post is not an ad and I have 0 relationship with its creators, also if anyone wants I can post in the comments a mini guide on how to configure the extension step by step, and if anyone is interested also here is my referral code, it is supposed that if you register with that we both gain more daily API uses but no idea, if you prefer you can register directly from their website!

In terms of the most balanced in speed, consistency in page rendering and good default settings, is there a clear winner?

Personally I've been using both Dark Reader and Midnight Lizard on different devices and I can't say I noticed much of a difference in terms of performance, what I did notice is that Dark Reader seems to have better defaults, but many complain that it slows down page loading a ton, I haven't heard the same about Midnight Lizard, but maybe that is by virtue that it has way way fewer installations and therefore fewer people talking about it.
Do you know if I've missed one and there is a totally different extension that does even better than both?

Wondering if it's possible to have these types of popups be effected by themes, and if so, how to do it? Is it possible using Firefox Colour?

Tried the @Vivaldi browser. A good example of when "the more the better" doesn't work. Sure it is an IMHO.

Still very interesting. Having your emails and calendars integrated into a browser is a good alternative when OS-built-in tools for this are crap.

This may occur on other sites, but I notice it often on YouTube when I fullscreen a video. To make it disappear, I have to mouse over a link that changes the URL in the bottom left. If a video is in fullscreen, I have to exit fullscreen to do that.

This issue still occurs in safe mode.

Been seeing an issue with downloading stuff from the Firefox Mobile app on Android. Sometimes when I press download on files or images, the download never actually happens; the file never appears in my phone's local files or in Firefox's download menu. There's no progress bar or any other indication that it even attempted to download. Usually only happens with either big files or when in areas of low connection. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a fix?

An example of this is today: I went to download an image from a website while in an area of less than optimum connection. Firefox never attempted the download despite trying from birth the website and from the image in its own tab. Google Chrome was able to download the image with the same connectivity, albiet slower than normal (though it was only a second or two slower instead of being instantaneous).

I installed Firefox Flatpak on F38 and some video content is not working. Youtube and Netflix work fine, Prime Video does not. Videos on some website do not play, some give simple error messages wihtout details: NFL.com, tagesschau.de, ran.de and more do also not work.

So, something is wrong but i can not figure out what it is. . Can not figure out if it's in use or not, i guess it's not.

I did some websearch but couldn't find a solution. Does anyone of you know how to fix it?

A little while back Mozilla put out a post ushering addon developers to prep their addons but I haven't heard anything else since, I don't wanna update to early and loose everything I already got

This has been an issue for a long time. I’ve been trying to avoid Chromium based browsers, but Firefox seems to be unable to print a lot of web pages without cutting off the content between pages. This is Firefox specific, as it doesn’t happen with Chromium browsers. It’s really a pain in the ass when I need to print something I have to open another browser and print it from there. I see tons of complaints about this online going back for years. I just spent the past two hours trying (unsuccessfully) to print a recipe correctly. I eventually gave up, opened Edge and printed from there. The current state of web browsers is dogshit. It’s either give up all of your privacy or use broken stuff. Neither is good.

Say I define different contexts or workspaces. So in my address bar I can type work and it will open up 5 pages that will be associated to that keyword. Then I can type bored and it will open up my 4 defined pages associated to that keyword.

I am NOT asking about pinning pages to the start/home page, and I am NOT asking about loading websites when Firefox starts up (because I don't want to always load the same things every time I launch ffox). I am also not asking about pinning tabs.
