I'm sorry driving isn't fun, it was never meant to be once we obliterated mass transit in the US. It's meant to get you to the destination, preferably safely.

You've never been in a fun car on a fun twisty back road. This is what driving should be, as we should not be dependent on driving to get everywhere.

One road I drive on frequently is posted 25, but Google Maps thinks it's 55, which is a silly speed for that road with many turnouts. Meanwhile, the next road over, is also 25 and Google sees that one correctly, but going 55 on that road is nearly natural, with nothing but the road and usually green traffic lights every quarter mile.

This was seriously the reason why I switched from a majority Windows user to a majority Linux user. From 2017-2023, Microsoft was doing the usual bad things, but they were not adding any new appalling crap and at least making some effort in improving things (W11 release nonwithstanding).

Where my friend lives, in a typical American suburb:

• To the nearest chain supermarket: 1.5km
• To the bus stop: >1km
• To the nearest park: 400m
• To the nearest big supermarket: 1.5km (they're all the same thing lol)
• To the nearest library: 1.4km
• To the nearest train station: 1.7km

I'm okay with paying for Internet services if the price is right... I'm not okay with also getting milked (data mined) for profit in addition to paying.

First, you should try to test ride a supersport bike before you buy one. The seating position is quite aggressive, and going on longer road trips will be quite challenging on a bike like that.

Second, upgrading from an A2 Bike to a 1000cc superbike is a huge jump in power, upgrading to a 600cc is wiser. They are still really fast up to felony speeds. And the S1000RR is one of the more expensive and crazy versions of these bikes.

However, I'm not in a position to force major purchases on you. If you take a test ride and you really like the S1000RR, go ahead (even if it isn't very wise). I'd still recommend the ZX6R more.

That's why I keep advising people to buy used, and to be able to pay for any expensive toy fully in cash. It saves so much depreciation money, and causes you to not go into debt over an expensive toy.

Think about why you joined Lemmy. Reddit has been getting greedier and greedier, so you left to a place where the grass is greener. The same thing is true with Windows and Linux (and Linux is also much more big and mature than Lemmy). It attracts the same kind of people.

I think I have a solid grasp of C++ and its manual memory management, but give me a build error and I'll have zero clue how to fix it.

The interesting thing is that although I've almost never spent money on a gacha system and haven't played much gacha systems recently, my brain subconsciously craved for more but in a safer way.

That's why I created the JavaScript weighted playlist for myself: A random selection of songs from my music library where some songs play (much) more than others. Getting a super rare song is akin to getting a top tier drop. Additionally, the playback rate is randomized to a normal distribution, giving the tiny chance that a rare song can play with a wild playback rate. And if that wasn't enough, some Geometry Dash related songs can randomly skip to the next song, simulating watching someone try to beat some demon level.

I've created a skinner box for my brain that sometimes causes me to waste hours just clicking on the "next song" button to see what shows up next. My wallet was not harmed in the process (although it might soon be because I want it to work on a portable device, but that money would go to some niche open source hardware thing rather than a greedy gacha publisher).
