Veganism is bourgeois? When I was poor as shit I lived on rice and beans. Lol

I had an argument on here with someone saying poor people can't be vegan because if they were truly poor then they would eat anything to sustain themselves. Only rich people are allowed to have principles.

I don't eat meat because I can't afford it. That shit's expensive.

[–] disguy_ovahea@lemmy.world 8 points 2 months ago (1 children)

That’s what I’m saying! Garbanzo beans are way less expensive.

And delicious!

I can't change your view as it's objectively correct.

I have adopted the superior diet: 100% free range agricultural workers. By turning them into food I actually delete their exploitation from moral calculus. Checkmate vegoons.

Haven't had a decent elephant dick in ages!

That's because you stopped putting effort into your appearance

I think they're saying that the production of rice and beans also exploits workers.

[–] disguy_ovahea@lemmy.world -1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I’m guessing they typed that comment on an electronic device that was manufactured by Uyghur slave labor in China. Good luck buying anything outside of a farmer’s market without exploiting workers today.

So don't even try? Are you vegan and saying this??

[–] disguy_ovahea@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

There’s no reason to imply extremism. I’m saying there will be a degree of worker exploitation in anything outside of locally sourced products. I personally don’t know of any staple imports that are grown and harvested through labor unions or socialism. If you know of any, please share.

check out the Food Empowerment Project

www.foodispower.org

they make recommendations for vegan food based on their track records with workers rights

Thanks! I’ll look into it.
