Radio Free (place) is a CIA propaganda outlet so this could all well be bollocks. I'm surprised they are even still using that naming format since it is already well known.
On the topic of Daniel Khalif, its also a possibility this could be spin because the state finds it embarrassing that he escaped. Either way, it isn't really consequential to most people.
