I have a buddy who is single and went into a Joe Rogan spiral. Apparently his new biggest fear is talking to a woman who happened to have been born a man.

When I asked him why? He made up a hypothetical situation of them breaking into his house?

Insanity, especially considering trans people are more likely to be victims than perpetrators.

Oh god could you imagine how horrible it would be if a transwoman broke into your house

They’d just eat all my snacks and download F:NV

Hey, I don't want to go over the data cap on my "unlimited" internet

These guys are telling on themselves. "She used to be a man, so she'll do [horrible thing]."

So you do [horrible thing] to your partners??

[–] ByteOnBikes@slrpnk.net 36 points 1 month ago (1 children)

That was my response! I said, "So in a relationship, that's what you do?"

And he got kinda mad and changed the subject.

That's pretty telling.

Homophobia and transphobia, when you dig into them a bit, are often based in a fear that they'll be on the other end of toxic masculinity instead of the one they're used to.

So his concern is having a potential partner that he couldn't physically outmatch? Can't think of why a guy like that might be single

[–] millie@beehaw.org 27 points 1 month ago

It literally only just now clicked that the guy who I was friends with before I transitioned who immediately flipped on me afterward has always been a big Joe Rogan fan. I don't know why that took so long.

Anyway, thanks Will Ferrell.

Wait what? His biggest fear is if someone breaks into his house he might be trans? Or they might be trans and he's forced to talk to them?

[–] lobut@lemmy.ca 8 points 1 month ago

Yeah but if he keeps listening to those shows then they imagine it's happening all the time.

Good for Will Ferrell! We love a good ally. Do not go to the comments section though, the trolls are out.

I looked at the trap, Ray.

As a German rapper put it: "you hate feminism, because you're too weak for self-criticism".

Feminism, not about trans, but same vibes, I guess.

[–] Powderhorn@beehaw.org 37 points 1 month ago

This is actually the first thing that improves my opinion of Will Ferrell.

Truer words never spoken.
