This is a community for posting and sharing trailers and teasers for upcoming film, television and video game premieres. The goal is to provide subscribers a curated feed of trailers for UPCOMING media. General-purpose posts about movies, television and games are better suited for other communities around the Lemmyverse. This place is just for trailers.

Rules

  1. All posts must be trailers or teasers; not full movies, not trailers for trailers, and not clips of popular scenes. Meta posts from mod staff are OK, but should be kept to a minimum.
  2. No fan-made trailers or remixes.
  3. Trailers for upcoming content only. Do not spam the community with trailers for media that has already been released.
  4. Link to official channels for trailers whenever possible (ie: the YouTube accounts of each film's studio or distribution company); avoid linking to videos from media outlets that function as aggregators / re-posters if you can.
  5. Post titles should follow formatting guidelines: "Media Name (release year, relevant creator credit)". Creator credits should be directors for films and games, showrunners for television series. Other details such as starring actors, writers, production studios, etc can be added to the post description.
  6. Don't be a jerk.

Genius artist Cesar Catilina seeks to leap the City of New Rome into a utopian, idealistic future, while his opposition, Mayor Franklyn Cicero, remains committed to a regressive status quo, perpetuating greed, special interests, and partisan warfare. Torn between them is socialite Julia Cicero, the mayor’s daughter, whose love for Cesar has divided her loyalties, forcing her to discover what she truly believes humanity deserves.

UPDATE: Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis trailer withdrawn over fake quotes

Lionsgate has withdrawn its trailer for Francis Ford Coppola’s self-funded epic Megalopolis after it was criticised for including false and misleading quotes, saying: “We screwed up.”

The video, released on Wednesday, starts by going back in time to show negative quotes from established critics for acclaimed films from Coppola’s past such as The Godfather and Apocalypse Now. “Genius is often misunderstood,” says the accompanying narration.

Vulture’s Bilge Ebiri pointed out that many of the quotes were manufactured and could not be found in the original reviews.

“Lionsgate is immediately recalling our trailer for ‘Megalopolis’” a spokesperson for the company said in a statement to Variety. “We offer our sincere apologies to the critics involved and to Francis Ford Coppola and American Zoetrope for this inexcusable error in our vetting process. We screwed up. We are sorry.”

Trotting out a bunch of nay-saying critics was already of fairly questionable taste to begin with. Having them be made up is just plain hilarious.

Also, the narration was pretty odd. I wonder if this was even intended to be released at all.
