According to the prosecutors of the case, the Dutchman hit the photographer's camera, but it all happened very quickly, and there are doubts as to what exactly happened.

According to SVT, witnesses who have been questioned have stated that they did not watch the incident as threatening.

– Today I have closed the investigation because I cannot prove that the act was intended to cause serious fear or that the man had that intention, says senior prosecutor Frederik Jönsson in the press release.

I am expecting Joost and the Dutch broadcasters to require some heavy co compensation for this

The EBU has replied to Joost Klein's criminal investigation being closed.

"This new development therefore does not have any impact on our decision which we stand by completely"

What a shitshow. Any favourite can now be falsely accused of any random thing and be removed from the competition.

I feel like the Swedish involvement has been very suspicious, ever since Loreen won over Finland's Cha Cha Cha and conveniently brought the Eurovision to Sweden for ABBAs 50 year celebration. There's something fishy going on

EBU has already announced changes for next year and obviously a lot of national broadcasters are very unhappy with how this was handled.

So they will need to clarify what sanctions are possible for what violation.

Are false accusations not a crime anymore?

[–] Microw@lemm.ee 6 points 3 months ago (1 children)

The police ending investigations without deciding to press charges does not automatically mean that there were false accusations. Could simply mean that what they established as having happened is not covered by the intention/letter of the law.

STV is the swedish television broadcaster who had him removed

Let him open the next finale.
