lack of global leadership? Political polarization? Resource stress and climate change? David Miliband sees a combination of all these factors and more.

Yeah the interview isn’t very informative imo and can kinda be reduced to this.

"the average person has lost 10 IQ points" is an oxymoron.

[–] Gsus4@mander.xyz 14 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

I read it as there being a loss of 10% IQ points from the pre-pandemic average that is 100 by default. Which would be massive, considering the majority of people did not have strong symptoms.

On the other hand, there was a lot of social capital and potentially EQ that was lost due to the breaking of social bonds, increase of fear and anger..

But this is only for people who were hospitalized or at least had strong symptoms, correct?

[–] BrightCandle@lemmy.world 8 points 3 months ago

Nope, even those who had no symptoms at all are showing signs in very high numbers. None of these issues is turning up in 100% of people, but there is no study doing all the tests found on everyone so not everyone looses brain size and gets organ damage but it could be an either and we wouldn't know. Nothing so far suggests there is anyone immune to this damage.

There is a big difference between what science knows about this disease and what the mainstream media and governments are presenting about it, a giant gulf.
