That's it, I'm calling superhero movies 'capeshit' going forward.

[–] TrousersMcPants@lemmy.world 29 points 3 months ago (2 children)

4chan has been doing that for years, now

I don’t think I’ve ever expressed this anywhere, but I don’t even consider that place to be a stopped clock. Always saw it as a random number generator with no brakes, which is why all the bad shit gets amplified when it wouldn’t breathing room elsewhere.

I used to like the musical discussions on there, way way back, and the conversations were pretty interesting.

Too bad vaguely gestures in every direction

Yeah 4chan is basically just the chaotic form of social media. Near absolute anonymity and essentially no rules as to what you can post will result in some rancid shit, but also is just as capable of pretty good content.

[–] Infynis@midwest.social 4 points 3 months ago

They call it that on Hexbear too

[–] BigBananaDealer@lemm.ee 4 points 3 months ago

its funnier to just call it kino

[–] solsangraal@lemmy.zip 37 points 3 months ago (1 children)

the villains (all of them) were meh. and it was 90% fan service, which i guess was the point. but most of the "supposed to be funny" bits were actually funny, and reynolds and jackman were awesome as always-- i'll go see the next one just for their odd couple shenanigans

It feels like such a meme at this point for a Marvel villain to lose all nuance and just turn into a one note murder everything villain for the 3rd act. It didn't have to be this way.

classic capeshit

[–] northendtrooper@lemmy.ca 15 points 3 months ago (2 children)

Better than the 2nd but the 1st has a special place in my heart.

The first was so good cause they had to think outside the box in terms of budget. Deadpool forgets his guns in the taxi just because they didn't have the budget for a big gun fight for the final. The second Deadpool has an unlimited budget which is a sure way to kill your creativity

i appreciated that it paid a lot of reverence to the logan movie, which was great. hopefully it made people want to go see it for the first time, or again

[–] papalonian@lemmy.world 4 points 3 months ago (2 children)

Yeah I've actually never seen any of the wolverine movies and never really thought about it until watching this movie

[–] solsangraal@lemmy.zip 10 points 3 months ago (1 children)

logan is not a typical capeshit movie--it's pretty grim and depressing

[–] papalonian@lemmy.world 5 points 3 months ago

I'm a typical capeshit enthusiast but I do prefer those movies that make your heart and brain hurt

[–] northendtrooper@lemmy.ca 5 points 3 months ago

I believe because how success DP1 was they greenlit Logan as rated R. Definitely worth a watch as it not like the capeshit that has been spoon fed to us for over a decade.

[–] pregnantwithrage@lemmy.world 13 points 3 months ago

It was good fan service and kept my attention, 8 out of 10 because they did their homework and wrote in characters well enough while giving wolverine a reason to come back.

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 7 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Worth it just for the Fire Phone reference

[–] PythagreousTitties@lemm.ee 8 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (1 children)

My favorite part was after he used the pretty Deadpool as a meat shield he tried CPR on him and blood was spouting out of every bullet hole. That was a great gag.

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 3 points 3 months ago

That was a good scene, I rate it 7/10 Fire Phones
