I've been designing custom crosshairs for TF2 to concisely convey more information. (They're in VTF format so you'll need a VTF viewer, like VTFEdit.)

However, I still struggle with finding good practices for designing weapon-specific crosshairs; I can only find good practices for designing real life reticules.

Can you add some screenshots so one can see the crosshairs without a VTF viewer, e.g. on mobile?

I always found the default CS:GO dynamic crosshair to be pretty good. Translucent, showed the spread of the weapon, gave you information about friend or foe and had a dot in the middle for headshots.

This crosshair is what I ended up using: https://github.com/n1trux/csgo-configs/blob/54f80895a23d53d1c246375fd3ea6bb51ed6055c/730/local/cfg/crosshair.cfg
