General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

!ukpolitics@lemm.ee appears to have vanished! We can still see cached content from this link, but goodbye I guess! :'(

That’s a difficult one…

Should people be arrested for peacefully protesting… No

Should the military have replied to this woman to address her concerns… yes

Should people be able to disrupt the efficiency and work of the military in charge of nuclear weapons… no

Should a retired primary school teacher be able to find out the precise location of a nuclear arsenal… NO!

Locations of bases are public knowledge. You won't hide a missile silo from the company that built it. You won't hide military activity etc.

Military has ita own engineers. So company that built it aint an issue unless they choose it.

Its also like all military secrets. Yes thwy can be hidden. Normally vi deception rather then hiding notice.

Digging deep holes is digging deep holes. Can be used for missiles gravity experiments underground rail etc etc.

If the builders are all military classified. Not really anyway for. You and me to tell.

Builders won't be military classified. You can't make a project hiring hundreds of people and not expect anyone to talk about it. Even if they magically stay silent, people around town will know. You can't hide cement trucks going off to Bumfuq Nowhere from gossiping people.

I would also expect there to be hundreds or thousands of these locations all over the country, but the nukes to only be in a handful of them and the location of the genuine ones only known to a select few with the highest security clearance.

We have CEs iE hundreds on military enlisted engineering specialists just for building things like infrastructure.

So yes when it is important military builders are classified. For exactly this sort of purpose.
