I went with my bike for 140 kilometers to visit my parents yesterday and I will do the same to go back tomorrow.
Cycling is amazing! You feel like an adventurer, you do all the work with your body and you lose all that belly fat. Go cycling, people!
I would love to, but I'm a 27 years old dude and I've never learn to bike, ever. I know I can easily find classes but it's way too embarassing so I end up not doing it.. Someday I'll get over this.
I'm sorry you are in that situation.
I don't know where you're from, but I did a quick Google search and there are multiple classes for adults in the next city for me. It might suck for a week and I totally understand why you are feeling that way, but those classes target adults specifically, so they are all in the same situation, which makes it much less embarrassing.
Personally I don't think it is embarrassing at all, you just never had the chance to learn it, but I can understand where your feelings come from, as many people learn it as children.
I can only encourage you to go and do it. I think cycling might just be the best way of traveling and getting over that embarrassed feeling once (I don't think it comes back once you started the actual class) will give you a lifetime of freedom.
There's some resources online as well: https://www.bicycling.com/skills-tips/a20026575/how-to-learn-to-ride-a-bike-as-an-adult/
Maybe that is already enough to learn it or at least give you some head start for the classes. If you try, please wear a helmet, everybody falls at some point and especially in the beginning! I fell hundreds of times in my life.
