Feel free to post music, discussion, memes, articles and anything else related to the Grateful Dead or the band members' side projects.

Only a couple quick rules, I think most should be obvious anyway:

  1. Stay on topic - keep posts Dead related
  2. Keep disagreements civil
  3. No NSFW (pornographic) content
  4. No racist, sexist, bigoted or violent content
  5. No politics (unless something is directly related to the band or its members) or other deliberately divisive topics
  6. Above all else, be kind, ain't no time to hate

Check out the 6/23/88 Alpine version of Believe It Or Not. One of the most heartfelt vocal deliveries that I've heard from Jerry. Really suits his '88 vocal timbre. Fat, minimal guitar solo. You can hear the crowd roar with approval at the end. I recommend the Chuck (not Charlie) Miller AUD.

Who was the girl that danced on stage with them in the early 70s? I would love a video link if anyone has one

The crowd's reaction when everyone realizes what's happening gives me goosebumps and watery eyes every single time I listen to this. 3 years to the day from Jerry's passing.

----TICKET HAS BEEN CLAIMED----

Hey all, Darkstar Orchestra is playing tomorrow at the Rose Amphitheatre in Dayton Ohio. I bought a ticket and I can't go, but I hate to see it go to waste. Anyone want it?

💀🥀 Remembering Jerry Garcia 🥀💀 28 years ago today, we said goodbye to a musical legend and the soul behind the Grateful Dead. Jerry's melodies continue to “Ripple” through time, reminding us that "the music never stopped." Let's take a moment to honor his legacy and the timeless tunes that still light up our lives.

the 2/28/80 Kean College version is pretty much my favorite song of all time, but I was wondering if anyone has one they think tops it?

Lol at the JamBands headline. Was this show "lost"? Looks like there are 4 traded shows to choose from on Relisten alone....

Ah the headlines...... It is a good show... not Brents first as this article alludes to.

Sharing my buddy Swami's list of his top 200 Brent era Grateful Dead shows. Some well known classics are included. There are also many outstanding lesser known shows as well. I found it to be an excellent resource for checking out the late '79 to Summer '90 periods. Hope this list introduces people to some shows they haven't heard before.

I haven’t seen any updates since the movie was announced and that was back in 2021. Now it looks like Jonah Hill is in hot water so I’m wondering if there’s any other info.

Dead and Company, LA, maybe 2019 or so? The band was playing Dark Star and for some reason Jeff started jamming a keyboard part that sounded like the melody to Carol of the Bells. Think the “ding fries are done” part if you were on the internet that long ago. John lit up and started harmonizing with him, so both are just full on playing Christmas tunes in the middle of Dark Star. Bobby then realized what was happening, became visibly furious, and ran across the stage to shut down the jam in its tracks. I’ve had a lot of different emotions at Dead shows but this was the only time I ever laughed like that. I’ll see if I can pin down what show it was and find a video.

Any other fun stories like this?

What do people think of Jazz Is Dead, particularly the 2023 lineup? Many of their recordings are available on archive.org under Steve Kimock.

Personally, I love the subtle, mellow slowly unfolding versions of songs that they're playing this year. I'm looking forward to seeing them perform soon in San Francisco.
