After some searching, it looks like I need to disable all hardware acceleration ? How can I disable only the minimum amount of stuff ?

due to reasons I only have my tbb/ff bookmarks saved as jsonlz4 files, 10 backups.

Ideally, I could recover all those including the structure, but Id settle for the urls (and hopefully the names).

If I want to opt out, I can only opt out by disabling all usage telemetry according to the official doc https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/share-data-mozilla-help-improve-firefox . That means that my usage habits and the usage habit of all people that do not want to share their search terms with firefox, i.e. all somewhat privacy interested people is just thrown into the void. For future browser decisions, this means that the browsing behavior of a whole group is neglected. This makes me sad.

I don't like it when I go back to a tab and it reloads.

For whatever reason, I want tabs to stop changing. I don't want the to reload from their javascript and I don't want the tab content to be deleted by the automatic discard (to save memory)

If firefox decides to free memory, it should dump tab data and tab state to disk, not delete and reload from the website later.

Sometimes the website won't exist later.

Somewhat related but this one is hard : Some website dynamically delete content after you've scroll past it (firefox) this means even if you scroll to the "true" bottom, you can't ctrl+f search and you can't freeze the page and read it all at your leisure and preserve it for later.

Currently my solution is to video screen capture the whole tab while scrolling slowly, this is quite a ridiculous step to take but apparently the only option to keep our data !?

I deal with a lot of VMs for varying purposes, and it seems frequent that my purpose for opening firefox is derailed by some kind of nag. For example, I frequently get the "you haven't used firefox in a while" in vms that I rarely use firefox and have to go disable the "meta refresh" option in the "about:config".

Now, I've started seeing this one... it's not even one of the passive banners but a full-page stop-the-world w/ semi-transparent background and right-click prevention.

Before I invest too much time trying to figure out how to disable these, or templating profile options en-masse, or the like... I thought I might ask... is there a way I can tell firefox that I only want it to only be a web-browser? i.e. an effective tool and not an attention sink or exciting video-game-like challenge of exploration and closing popups and suggestions while trying to remember why I launched it.

I find it incredibly disruptive every time this page comes up and it's never completely capable of restoring my tabs. Is there any way to disable it so that it will instead update when I choose to restart Firefox?

The GitHub repo for Firefox History Merger was archived back in 2022, while it still works it might be a good idea for a newer alternative in case Firefox makes breaking changes in the future.

Anyone else experience this? I haven't ever had this problem with Chrome. Live streams on YouTube seem to freeze once an hour or so. Actually YouTube just seems way slower and much more laggy on FireFox. I am using uBlock Origin so maybe that is throttling things, but I'm not sure.

Any advice?

Dear @firefox : Please stop saving images as webp when I drag them out of the browser. Forever stop that. Even if they are webp originally, just give me a setting to auto-convert them to JPEG. When I get a webp file the first thing I have to do is convert it manually if I'm going to do *anything* with it.

Looking at the Mozilla logo, we could see a URI hiding (or not) in there. Like mysql://.

They should make it into a protocol like mysql here and incorporate 'a' in there then do something with it.

I have found about the remote debugger, but I can't figure out if it's only for debugging firefox on android via adb ? Or can I use that directly from a script ?

I just lost all my tabs within it, any recommendations for an alternative?

I'm using Firefox Flatpak, but am not able to resize Firefox, only when its been sized into a set proportion via KWin (tiling manager). As soon as I move the Firefox out of the set "zone" I can freely resize FF again. Anyone know whats going on here? I am always using multiple windows of Firefox open, and moving them around on multiple monitors, so for me this is rather important. This is on Bazzite.

The difference between copy and move is that copy... copies, but move dies copy->verify->delete original, in a single operation of the user.

Preferably, that is reliable. Meaning it checks the bookmarks have been successfully created before closing the related tab.

Also it should be clear what bookmark folder it is going to put the tabs in.

Because the current bookmark manager, it is easy to end up dumping all your tabs in the parent folder of tge destination you indented.

Or end up creating an extra child folder inside your intended destination bookmark folder

Would also be nice to have quality of life features, such as a default bookmark folder.

The option to put the bookmarks in a folder named with today's date.

Maybe an option to specify a default destination bookmarks folder on a per site domain basis
