Edit: I figured it out. It was caused by the User-Agent Switcher and Manager addon, I use it to switch user agents on one site. I switched it to whitelist mode in the settings and now it works.

Like when I try to log into chat.openai.com, I click the checkbox that I'm human and it just keeps reloading that checkbox without progressing the page. But when I open the tab in a Firefox container (which you can install with the Firefox Multi-Account container addon), it works.

I want it to work without a container open.

I have the option in settings unchecked, but when pressing / or , it still shows up. Can this feature be entirely disabled? Ideally, Ctrl + F should still work, but if I need to disable it entirely through the about:config somehow, I’d be willing.

I've been using Consent-O-Matic which works pretty well but built into the browser? Wow.

Is there any plugin that reports on or visualizes tracking cookies and the services that deploy them? I'm thinking about an educational tool.

On firefox for Android, if you installed "Google search fixer" addon, it causes browser to freeze when interacting with images in Google search. Someone please report this to mozilla. Using the android browser without that addon is almost impossible.

We've all turned off trimURLs but what else is hiding in there?

I just moved to a new phone and I just want all tabs bookmarked. Opening all of them on desktop won't work because that option usually only loads the first hundred or so before locking up.

I have ff set to open everything in private tabs by default, but when i want to login to an account with my password manager i have to open ff, turn private browsing off and then paste the link from the password manager. I was wondering if some sort of syntax existed to tell ff to open it in a standart tab kind of like about:settings or mailto:

I signed up for a Firefox account and everyday I am getting at least 1 mail from Firefox. I have clicked on "Unsubscribe" link and even checked the last checkbox to unsubscribe from everything. It does say that it might take a week for the setting to take effect. It's been almost a week. And I am still getting mails.

Has anyone faced similar issue? Could you resolve it?

I use uBlock Origin and make some changes to the default settings. Have seen recommend configs, but haven't gotten to implement them yet.

What do you do to make Firefox even more privacy respecting and secure?

I don't know if this is a Firefox or Google issue tbh, but I'm getting signed out of Google more than once a day lately for no reason and this is getting really annoying. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Edit: I was able to narrow down to Nodium. As I visit a medium website with the extension enabled, I need to sign in again to Google. It seems they're a bit sloppy when deleting medium cookies.

Yesterday I checked if there were unknown devices in the security dashboard, but everything seemed alright. The supposedly signed out devices still show up as active sessions, which leads me to believe something's up between Firefox and Google.

And it's only happening with Google, for both accounts that I use. I disabled some extensions that could be getting in the way, but that didn't help. There's also no "you were signed out message", yesterday I was even using Google Meet when it happened and I just got kicked out of the meeting.

I've assigned domain names using a custom TLD to my home servers for ease of access.

When I put, say proxmox.server, in my address bar, it searches the web. To avoid that behavior, I have to specify http://proxmox.server.

I want Firefox to recognize .server as a valid TLD. I've searched the web to no avail, so that's why I'm writing this.

I came across this post in Stack Exchange, but the method described (ie, network.IDN.whitelist.server) doesn't work.

Does anybody know how can I add a custom domain to Firefox?

EDIT:

@jamesw@beehaw.org pointed out that there is a way to add nonstandard TLDs to Firefox: browser.fixup.domainwhitelist.yourdomain.yoursuffix.

It works, but a FQDN (with the imaginary TLD) is needed, that means it's not possible to whitelist all domains under a custom TLD. You need to add one entry per domain, that is: whitelist server1.mystuff, whitelist server2.mystuff, and so on.

On desktop I am using Firefox since I can remember. The main reason being the good add-on support and the privacy friendly image of the browser. Although there might be better solution to keep my own data privat, Firefox always felt like the sweet spot between privacy and usability. Now I am using an iPhone and first thing I did, was to install Firefox. But after I learned that all browsers on iOS have to use the WebKit engine, I am wondering what difference it makes to use Firefox there. Is it on iOS more like a skin for Safari, or how much does ist affect the inner workings of the browser? What are the biggest differences?
