Some setting in about:config maybe? It's kinda ridiculous that it disappears with like 12 tabs open.

(I know I can click scroll-wheel on my mouse to close it, but it's still a problem when I'm using trackpad)

The French government is considering a law that would require web browsers – like Mozilla's Firefox – to block websites chosen by the government.

I originally wrote IPvFoo for Chrome in 2011, to observe whether websites are served using IPv4 or IPv6:

https://github.com/pmarks-net/ipvfoo/

In 2017, Firefox added initial WebExtensions support, so I dropped the extension on addons.mozilla.org, technically functional but full of bugs, and hoped for the best.

This week, I finally sat down with Firefox and ironed out all the problems:

I'm pretty sure that covers everything, so IPvFoo now provides an equivalent user experience on Chrome and Firefox. Enjoy!

Look at it! What is that? It looks kind of like a cross section of a human, kind of, except the eyes are pools of blackened fire and the brain is sending electrical pulses out to... are those Jupiters? Why? Why??? This is absolute nightmare shit lol

I generally have a "home" Firefox window with my most used tabs pinned. Sometimes I close it before another window, so I was frustrated to "lose" it and having to redo my pins. But recently I discovered this feature. Joy!

I'm not talking about an extra 10-15sec, but easily 2-3 full minutes (I've sat here with a timer checking) to load pages, sometimes not loading them at all. Particularly with login pages, but even just homepages.

Dropbox, Cloudflare, Various companies forums, My bank, Google; each of these sites and more I've had firefox either not load at all, or take so long I've been able to copy the link into Chrome, do what I need there, then come back to Firefox still 'loading' a blank white page.

I just don't understand. I want to migrate away from Chrome and use Firefox, but it's been unusably slow when it even loads anything at all.

P.S. In the time I've taken to write this (~5min) plus the time to decide to post and find this community firefox has still not loaded my cloudflare dash... (typed in the address, waited a while, gave up and came here but left it open)

/edit: I should note I have ublock installed, but I get the same results with it disabled most of the time.

As in title - is there a way to opt out from getting beta updates on Firefox Developer Edition? I don't want to constantly restart my browser, also it crashes a lot most likely because I'm always on beta version (currently on 117.0b8).

I know I could use an addon like RunWith to download files to the Downloads folder without it asking where to save them, but I want files downloaded through Firefox the official way. I have “Always ask where to save files” unchecked in settings, but that doesn’t do anything.

Hello, so I'm using Garuda, is a bit customized but the desktop layout is still the same. I have Firefox, and as you can see, the window buttons appear on firefox itself, but I have on the top panel a widget for the buttons, so what happens is that when I have Firefox Opened, 2 rows of window buttons appear.

But I was trying out Mullvad Browser, which is based on Firefox, and the Windows Buttons appear only on the top panel, so is possible to do it.

I wonder what I have to do to have it this way on regular firefox.

As if it wasn't bad enough that they want me to use a random internet service to add a keyboard to a usb wifi receiver, they have the balls to put this for Firefox users. I clicked out of pure curiosity, as I'm not even remotely interested in involving a corporate internet service in getting my keyboard connected to my computer. This is the message you get now on Logi Options software if you have a Unifying Receiver: This is the message you get now on Logi Options software if you have a Unifying Receiver

For the curious: https://logiwebconnect.com

EDIT: some people on the thread have brought up that the error message being displayed for Firefox users is due to the WebUSB API not being implemented by Firefox due to security concerns. This still does not justify having to use a web app to plug peripherals to a PC.

I want to get rid of them because I want to press ↑ on my keyboard to quickly get to the last item on the result list, but don’t want to have to cycle through the search icons.

None of the solutions I found online worked, so I thought I might give it a try here.

Same thing with Enhancer for YouTube.

It's so beautiful I might cry.

Single videos(Not belonging to a playlist) and the first video of any playlist loads fine, but subsequent videos never load.

I am using firefox rpm package with ublock origin with default configurations on my fedora 38.

As shown below, it appears that all Firefox tabs are just named "Firefox" within the volume mixer. This doesn't exactly make differentiating them very easy. Is it possible to make the volume mixer show the names of the tabs instead? If not, is there any feature in the works for this that anyone may be aware of?

I switched back to firefox last week because I wanted to get away from Chromium. I was previously using Brave.

I have been having a MULTITUDE of issues with FF this week, and if I can't figure out how to resolve them I'm going back to Brave. I've tried everything I can think to do to fix it, and nothing has worked. I've never seen any of these issues on any other browsers, this is 100% a firefox problem.

I'm on the latest build of FF on Windows 10 and have the following plugins:

  • Bitwarden
  • UBlockOrigin
  • Simple Login
  • Multi-account Containers
  • ProtonVPN
  • Old Reddit Redirect
  • RES
  • Enhancer for Youtube

The issues I'm having:

  1. Occasionally FF just hangs, won't respond to inputs, and the only way to recover it is to kill the process via control panel. When FF crashes like this I NEVER see the crash reporter, it's like FF thinks nothing happened and everything is fine.
  2. Sometimes my tabs just don't work. Like, I'll open a tab, type something in to search it, and it just hangs. I had this problem for YEARS when FF was my daily browser before switching to brave 2 years back because it got too annoying. This issue is COMPLETELY RANDOM, and happens within 1 minute of making a new tab- sometimes it will happen when I first try to navigate anywhere inside the new tab, sometimes it happens after I'm in a website.
  3. Sometimes FF refuses to start. I'll turn the computer on, click FF, and nothing will happen- then I'll go into control panel, kill the FF process, and try again until it works- usually when I do this the browser crashes at least once when it starts.

I can't make any sense of why this browser is so unstable for me, but it is SIGNIFICANTLY worse than it was last time I abandoned FF. I actually have FEWER addons than I did when I used FF as my daily driver before. If I can't figure this out this time I'm just not going to look back.

I have tried:

  1. Safe mode. This seems to fix it for a bit, but eventually either tabs stop working or the browser crashes. I'm pretty confident this is NOT an issue with any of my plugins- I'm using either official FF ones (multi-account containers) or very reputable plugins from good sources.
  2. Turning on/off hardware acceleration. This has no impact whatsoever
  3. I have repeatedly deleted all cookies, history, and cache, and reset the startup cache.
  4. Clean install FF
  5. Refresh FF
  6. Last time I tried to fix FF before switching to Brave, I found that having the FF Profiler running AT ALL TIMES actually seemed to make things a little bit better- but the profiler never once turned up anything useful.

I'm at my wits end here. I really want to be able to move off of chromium but FF is so incredibly annoying to use in its current state that I simply can't do that until I find fixes to these issues. Has anyone here got any clue what else I can do to try to diagnose this?

I'm sure that it can be useful for a lot of people but for me magnifier's popup (on android) always getting in a way and makes text selection so much harder.

Is there any way to disable this feature, any entry in about:config for that, I'd like to turn it off browser wise?

Thanks @phorq@lemmy.ml, solution:

  • about:config
  • layout.accessiblecaret.magnifier.enabled
  • false
