I've been told about Mull and fennec, but what about:

(From what I understand)

• Firefox Focus: blocks trackers and erases browsing history
• Firefox Nightly: new updates every night
• Firefox Klar: german version of focus
• Iceraven Browser: 3rd party fork with more add ons

I love Firefox and I used it on and off for many years. Right now I am using Brave because I just prefer the look and feel of it. I want to move to Firefox again but I just can't stand the way the tabs look on Firefox. They are too big and ugly and it's not great on a laptop, etc. Once you have a few open then they are not readable anymore. What are some ways to change the look?

The print preview is taking about 2 minutes to generate in Firefox, and for the last 15 seconds the entire Firefox window becomes unresponsive. I am only "printing" to a PDF to save, and I have no printers connected to my (modern) laptop.

When I tried on Chrome for comparison, it takes about 30 seconds (still a ridiculous amount of time) but without the freezing behavior.

I tried setting print.prefer_system_dialog to false (which does not generate a preview that I can see), but Firefox still takes just as long to pop up the system dialog and the window still freezes.

I only really care about fixing the problem with Firefox. Any suggestions are welcome, thanks!

Do you enjoy our new Internet #cookiepower? I find the whole cookies agreements thing useless. It would be ideal if @firefox could allow a "Accept All COokies" button in the settings and so it automatically answers this question for me. I don't care who has my cookies. I really don't. Honestly.

I found the flag to disable it, but I'm really curious why the decision was made in the first place. On Chrome and Firefox, l If you double click this example HTML5 : https://www.w3schools.com/html/html5_video.asp, it will go full screen. I've always wondered why sometimes click on a video would make it go fullscreen, it's laggy and annoying for me, even on high-end laptops. On My Mac, as well as in Windows and Fedora VMs.

Today I got so annyed by firefox's default behaviour of downloading each and every PDF file to my disk that I went searching for a solution until I had the problem fixed. And it seems like I have finally found it. I have linked the solution but here is the explanation in short:

Firefox determines what kind of file type it is based on the content-type header it receives from the server. Another header is the content-disposition header with which the server specifies how the file should be handled. The two most important options here are attachment and inline.

• inline is the default if not otherwise specified, and means the browser will handle the file according to the behavior set in the browser settings.
• attachment means to always download the file

It is therefore possible that some pdf files are downloaded by force and others are handled according to the behavior specified in the settings. To force the latter in any case, you can proceed as follows:

1. go to about:config
2. change browser.download.open_pdf_attachments_inline to true

Whenever I try to install an Android extension, except for the Recommended ones, by pressing "Add to firefox", I'm prompted to download the .xpi file and when it finishes I press " Open file" but I get an error saying I don't have any app which can open those files.

Has this happened to anyone else? Does anyone know how to fix it?

Does it run as well as normal Firefox?

Is it worth using?

If i put say 123.123.123.123 into firefox desktop or mobile it will try to load a webpage from that host. If i put http://[ipv6] into desktop it works as well. If i do the same on mobile it sends it to my search engine as a query.

Quick question: How do i completely separate (also with distinct names) Firefox instances?

What i mean by that:

On my old Intel Mac, i've made 4 copies of Firefox, one for work, safe browsing, and apps. I've renamed each with FF-name so i can quickly open them with spotlight. Each has it's own profile.

For that i "only" need to edit the Info.plist and all worked.

However since then i migrated to Apple Silicon and MacOs Ventura, which seems to interfere with my approach.

Do you guys have an alternative idea or better approach? Maybe docker containers or anything?

My main intent is that i have them as separate applications, so i can open them with spotlight and also do not accidentally share the wrong instance in a conference call.

Tl;Dr:

In about:config, I changed these preferences:

• widget.non-native-theme.gtk.scrollbar.round-thumb: false - This makes the scrollbar not have rounded edges
• widget.non-native-theme.gtk.scrollbar.thumb-size: 1 - This makes the scrollbar ‘chonkier’ within the scrollbar region
• widget.non-native-theme.scrollbar.size.override: 20 - This increases the scrollbar region size. Larger number = wider scrollbar
• Make sure widget.gtk.overlay-scrollbars.enabled is set to false - This should have been set to false when you enabled “Always show scrollbars”

On Windows, Firefox follows the system setting (System Settings > Accessibility > Visual Effects > Always show scrollbars).

This is a plugin I found recently and really enjoy. It gives you the opportunity to redirect several webpages to alternatives. For example Youtube to FreeTube or Piped. If I search for youtube in Firefox, FreeTube automatically opens and shows me my feed. I like it, I use it, I can recommend it.

Chrome’s ad-blocking plan could be a privacy disaster – and a reason to switch to Firefox....

Currently running with uBlock Origin with a lot of filter lists and Consent-o-matic, and the hidden setting to auto decline cookie dialogs but still getting popups, sticky videos and such.

Used to go with I still don't care about cookies but heard it can default to accepting more cookies than needed

Hi! With all the stuff going on I want to switch to Firefox. I got incredibly used to the sidebar in Opera Though and really want something similar.

E.g. Having WhatsApp in the side tab and not in the header tabs (so I can't close it accidently) or different t workspaces for different projects has proven incredibly helpful. Also on opera I can open 2 Windows with the same workspace and get different tabs making it really useful for programming.

I've looked around for plugin like that but could only find one where the tabs were also shown on the side and the top.

If anyone could help me here that would be great, I am really on the fence of switching to way land and ff on my machine.

Anyone can relate to this? When I go full screen the video got blurry, I noted this scrolling for comments as well when I can only hear the video.

It has been ongoing for me for almost two weeks. At first I thought it could be my phone, but I got a new phone last week and it has been happening in the new one too. One crashes was system wide and caused the phone to reboot.

I suspected it could be a custom extension that I use (Control Panel for Twitter) but happens even while the extension is disabled.

Google slows down Firefox users when watching YouTube....

Today, when I navigated to amazon.com on Firefox for Android, I received a jarring message that I could "try" a new service, Fakespot, on the app.

Fakespot is littered with privacy issues.

Among other things, FakeSpot/Mozilla was forced to admit:
"We sell and share your personal information"

Fakespot's privacy policy allows them to store and/or sell:

• Your email address
• Your IP address
• "Protected chacteristics"
  ie gender, sexuality, race...
• Data scraped from across the web
• Account IDs
• Things you bought
  (This is sold to advertisers)
• Things you considered buying
  (This is sold to advertisers)
• Your precise location
  (This is sold to advertisers)
• Inferences about you
  (This is sold to advertisers)

Right before Mozilla acquired them, Fakespot updated their privacy policy to allow transfer of private data to any company that acquired them. (Previous Privacy Policy here. Search "merge" in both.)

People donate to Mozilla because they believe in the company's stated goals. Why were the donations put into an acquisition of a company with this kind of privacy policy? And why has Mozilla focused on bundling it as bloat into their browser? Now that Brave is in hot water for becoming bloated, Mozilla should buck the trend, not follow it.
